First you’d plug in 1 in place of x:
2(1)^2+4(1)+9a=0
When simplified the equation looks like:
6+9a=0
We want to move 6 to the other side so the equation looks like this:
9a=-6
Now divide by 9 on both sides:
a= -6/9= -2/3
